TINKER FEDERAL CREDIT UNION UNVEILS HISTORY-INSPIRED CENTENNIAL SCULPTURE
OKLAHOMA CITY – Tinker Federal Credit Union (TFCU) will hold a dedication ceremony on Tuesday, November 27, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at its corporate office (4140 W. I-40) of a new outdoor sculpture commemorating its 60-year history of serving members, as well as Oklahoma’s Centennial Year. The sculpture – named Blue Skies Ahead – is the winning entry from a competition TFCU held through a partnership with the College of Arts, Media & Design at the University of Central Oklahoma. All Oklahoma artists were eligible to submit an entry.
The winning design, inspired by Lori Alspaugh and created by Oklahoma artist Joseph Daun, stands in the corporate plaza facing north, easily visible from I-40. Set 15 feet in the air, the sculpture – a stylized interpretation of a jet plane – has a span of 7 feet by 12 feet. It is constructed of stainless steel and copper, with lighted stars on top.
“Just as Oklahoma’s Centennial Year activities began, we were wrapping up our 60th anniversary year of serving our members,” said Executive Vice President/Chief Administration Officer Gary Bartley. “As we joined in the festivities, we wanted to create a lasting symbol of Oklahoma’s rich past, as well as TFCU’s commitment to the communities we serve. We believe Mr. Daun has captured that spirit in Blue Skies Ahead.”
Tinker Federal Credit Union is the largest credit union in Oklahoma, with over $1.4 billion in assets and over 185,000 members.
