Bun Making Machine
Bread Dough, Conveyor, Electronic Timer and Motor Controls, Magnetic Clutch, Etc. 1995.

On a five minute cycle, conveyor jolts forward about 10 inches. Dough is released from freezer and slides down ramp onto conveyor. Dough travels sporadically up conveyor taking two hours to reach the other end. The dough thaws and rises during this period. Dough is then baked in continuous oven and dropped to the floor when done. Anticipation is very important in this piece.

The genisis for this piece revolved around the word companion. The origin of the word companion is the Latin panis, meaning bread. So a companion is one with whom we break bread with. At the opening people fought over the hot bread and the rats started eating it at night.
